At the Edible Prairie Project, we believe that a stronger food system is built by neighbors helping neighbors. Today, we are excited to introduce you to one of our dedicated Little Free Pantry volunteers, Kaitlyn.
Whether it’s rain, shine, or Wyoming wind, Kaitlyn helps ensure our pantries stay stocked, organized, and ready for those who need them most.
What is your favorite part about visiting the Little Free Pantries?
“Being able to provide someone in my community with food and knowing that it can help them greatly.”
What is one item you think everyone should consider donating to the pantry?
“Ramen. It always seems to be popular, it’s inexpensive, and it can really help someone in need.”
Why do you think it’s important for young people to help in our community?
“Helping the community not only supports others, but also helps young people grow personally. Through volunteering, I’ve gained skills like communication, teamwork, time management, and responsibility. These skills will benefit me in school, work, and life.”
Join us in thanking Kaitlyn for helping keep our Little Free Pantries running 24/7. We’re so grateful for her hard work and the positive energy she brings to our mission!

About Our Little Free Pantries
The Edible Prairie Project’s Little Free Pantry program is a network of eight upcycled newspaper dispensers located in Gillette city parks. These pantries are free, anonymous, and open 24/7. Take what you need, leave what you can.
Winter Donation Needs
During Wyoming’s winter months, our Little Free Pantries are exposed to freezing temperatures. To help keep food safe, we ask donors to focus on dry, non-perishable items that can withstand freeze-thaw cycles, such as ramen, pasta, rice, oatmeal, boxed meals, and peanut butter in plastic containers. Please avoid canned foods, glass jars, and items with liquid during winter.
